VISION STATEMENT
The early portion of the 21 st Century will be an era in which progress, in the science and biology of cancer, will result in an explosion of new technologies with which to prevent, diagnose, treat and cure cancer. While this process will be a boon to cancer patients and society, it will come with substantial costs in an environment where finances may be limited. Cancer patients need protection to allow access to and delivery of optimal cancer management, including providing or coordinating cancer screening and detection, cancer/genetic counseling, cancer education, cancer prevention, cancer treatment, cancer symptom management, and cancer rehabilitation.
MOASC enables medical oncologists, nurses and administrators to improve cancer care by:
Working with patient advocacy groups;
Assisting Californians in developing laws and regulations;
Working with national associations;
Working with employers, payors, and CMS to reimburse satisfactorily and appropriately for medical treatments;
Documenting benchmarks for oncology practices;
Promoting the continued education of physicians, their staff, patients and society;
Promoting clinical trial enrollment;
Increasing the membership of community and academic oncologists in the Medical Oncology Association of Southern California (MOASC).
