1. Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist at UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center (032610)

Duties and responsibilities:  To serve as a specialized expert clinician, educator, researcher, consultant and leader for oncology nursing staff, patients, families and members of multi-disciplinary health care teams. Collaborates with the nursing leadership team and multi-disciplinary team members to ensure cost-effective professional practice standards within patient populations based on best practices and evidence. To coordinate nursing orientation, competency, and curriculum development efforts system wide. Responsibilities include linking inpatient to outpatient population-based oncology services.
 Special conditions of employment: California RN license, BCLS (CPR), ACLS and a minimum of 5 years of oncology experience.

Qualifications: Oncology Certification, Master of Science in Nursing, Minimum 5 Years oncology experience.

Medical Billing Manager – Oncology Office

We are looking for a BILLING SUPERVISOR to lead, monitor and improve the billing and collections in this two-doctor private oncology office.  Come work for a doctor who is well-known for pioneering an effective treatment of prostate cancer.  Patients come from around the world to seek his expertise.  Join our friendly staff!  We offer excellent compensation and benefits.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee activities of one full-time biller
  • Supervise and work in all aspects of patient billing
  • Supervise and work in all aspects of collections and ensure that accounts receivable are continuously monitored to prevent accounts from falling behind
  • Code in ICD-9, HCPCS, and CPT (maintain code set to make sure it is still current and reimbursable; code from medical records as needed; add new codes as we add new services).
  • Keep up with all Medicare and private insurance changes & policies
  • Initiate and follow-up on all insurance appeals
  • Analyze current billing and collections procedures to find areas where we are not maximizing reimbursement and collections. Develop and implement methods to ensure we are maximizing reimbursement and collections
  • Supervise and work in verifying insurance coverage and obtaining any necessary preauthorization for treatments and labs prior to a scheduled consult and/or office visit
  • Spearhead and follow-up with patient assistance programs

Candidates for this position are exceptional team players, independent and hard-working, and have a number of years of direct experience in medical billing and collections, with some of this experience in a physician’s office.  We prefer someone who is familiar with medical oncology and medical laboratory billing in an out-patient setting (J-codes, drug administration codes, lab tests, outpatient E & M, etc.).

Qualifications:

  • Several years of medical office billing experience is required
  • Experience with Sage Medical Manager Practice Management System is preferable but not mandatory
  • Experience with charge and payment posting, Accounts Receivable/“working accounts”, etc. is required
  • Knowledge of ICD-9, CPT & HCPCS is required
  • PC proficiency, including good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is required
