The California Medical Association, in collaboration with the California Department of Justice and Medical Board of California, will offer a webinar entitled CURES-Preparing for the New Duty to Consult Requirements on August 22 at 12:15 PM. CURES is a database of Schedule II, III, and IV controlled substance prescriptions dispensed in California. Effective October 2, physicians must consult CURES prior to prescribing these medications to a patient for the first time and at least once every four months thereafter if that medication remains part of the patient’s treatment. ASCO, ASH, ACCC, and COA have submitted responses to the Request for Information (RFI) that was included in the Administration’s “blueprint to lower drug prices and reduce out-of-pocket costs”. To read more click here and go to National News.

CMS has released its proposed rule for 2019 Medicare physician reimbursement. CMS estimates that in 2019, overall impact for the hematology/oncology specialty will be a -4% reduction in reimbursement and a -2% reduction for radiation oncology.  To read more click here and go to CMS News.
